In order to strengthen the educational and social aspects of this community, through the promotion of local business initiatives, it will be generated recurring and sustainable income, so a part of these resources is reinvested in Sama’s school needs.

The Himalayan Carlos Soria founded Sama Educational Project in 2011.

The current school offers primary education and houses about 100 boys and girls aged between 5 and 12 years. The school has ten teachers, two child care-providers and a cook. However, Sama school suffers from a chronic deficit to pay wages, food and school supplies. The situation is no longer tenable and it can’t be assured the continuity of the school, it will depend on the community itself, whether they take charge of its management.

The purpose of the project is none other than to co – create, together with the inhabitants, sustainable business initiatives which, using a part of the income, cover current school expenses (wages, food, books and school supplies, etc.) and make possible its continuity.

The initiative has already been launched, as a first step, feasible in the short term, is the improvement of infrastructure and tourist accommodation services. Specifically, the aim is to improve the quality of the accommodation offer to generate extra income that can be reinvested in the school.
